Born in Edo, the eldest son of Kano Eishin. In 1810, he was appointed to the Edo Castle and served as an official in the inner court. In 1819, at the age of 24, he became a Hokan and was named Nakatsukasa-kyo (Lord Nakatsukasa). In 1828, he inherited his father's estate upon his death and became the ninth generation of the Kano school of the Kobikicho family.
