Asakura Nanryo 朝倉南陵
朝倉南陵 Asakura Nanryo (1756-1843)
A late-Edo period official painter of the Tokuyama clan, and the fourth head of the Asakura family. He was apprenticed to the clan's official painter, Unkoku Tocho, and later went to Edo (now Tokyo), where he learnt the Nanpohin style of painting from Iwai Koun. He was a painter of the Ungaya school, but produced many works in the Nanpohin style.
