千種掃雲 Chigusa Soun (1873-1944)
Japanese painter of the Meiji - early Showa period. Born in Kyoto. Studied Japanese painting under 'Takeuchi Seiho' and Western painting under Asai Chu. Formed the Heigo Gakkai with the aim of innovating Japanese painting. Also exhibited at the Bunten Exhibition. Taught at the Kyoto Higher School of Arts and Crafts from 1914. Died in 1944 (Showa 1944), aged 72.
