岸禮 Ganrei (1816-1883)
Painter of the Kishi school in Kyoto during the late Edo and Meiji periods. Grandson of Ganku. Second son of Gantai. Studied the Kishi school painting under his father. His painting style was more forceful than the Kishi school's distinctive brushwork, and he used a lot of dark ink to create a strong tone, while his elegant Shijo school-style paintings of flowers and grasses remain, suggesting that he had a wide range of painting styles
