樋口探月 Higuchi Tangetsu (1822-1896)
Japanese painter of the Edo and Meiji periods. An official painter of the Satsuma clan. Studied under Kano Tanen. During the Meiji period, he undertook work for the Ministry of the Imperial Household. Exhibited a folding screen at the Vienna World Exposition in 1872. He was friends with Hatta Tomonori. He taught Japanese-style painting to Kuroda Seiki.
