Hioki Mokusen 日置黙仙
日置黙仙 Hioki Mokusen (1847-1920)
A Sōtō Zen Buddhist monk born in Tottori Prefecture. He received instruction from Shōgaku Ekidō. He served as the 66th Chief Abbot of Eiheiji Temple and the ninth Chief Administrator of the Sōtō Zen School. He also visited Thailand, India, China, Korea, and the United States, participating in events such as the Thai King's coronation ceremony and the San Francisco World Buddhist Conference. He devoted considerable effort to international Buddhist exchange.
