Ito Ryugai 伊藤龍涯

伊藤龍涯 Ito Ryugai (1880-1959)
His real name was Shigenobu. He entered the Tokyo School of Fine Arts at the age of 19 in 1899. He graduated at the top of his class in the Japanese painting department in 1903. He became a student of Professor Terasaki Kogyo at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He served as a member of the Art Research Association, a member of the Futaba Association, and a member of the Japan Art Association, and entered the art world. He specialised in flowers and birds, people, landscapes, and especially historical paintings.
