Kaito Yurin 垣内右嶙
垣内右嶙 Kaito Yurin (1825-1891)
Born in Hida Takayama in Bunsei 8. His first name was Naomichi. He went to Kyoto to visit Okamoto Toyohiko of the Shijo School, and became a student of his pupil Shiokawa Bunrin, who gave him the name “Yurin” . He was treated as an official painter of the Takayama camp and painted the “Dragon” mirror ceiling of the Hida Shoja Kaguradai. After that, he went back to Kyoto, where he was employed by Iwakura Tomomi, and became friends with Otagaki Rengetsu, Tomioka Tessai, and others. In 1879, he moved to Kanazawa to pursue his art activities, and at the same time, he opened an art school and trained many students.
