Kaji Kiichi 梶喜一

梶喜一 Kaji Kiichi (1904-1980)
A Japanese-style painter born in Kyoto. At the age of 16, he began studying Japanese-style painting under 都路華香 Tsuji Kako (1871–1931) while also attending the Western-style painting institute of the Kansai Art Academy. Although he produced numerous works—including figure paintings and still lifes—he was particularly renowned as a master of painting carp.
