Koisozaki Sesso 小磯前雪窓
小磯前雪窓 Koisozaki Sessô (1832-1902)
Born in Tempo 3, the son of a certain Okano, a shogunate retainer. His name is Minekichi. He entered the school of Kuniyoshi Utagawa at an early age and took the name Ikkyokusai Yoshihide. From Kaei to around 1877, he excelled at ukiyoe (pictures of warriors and beauties). He studied under Kikuchi Yosai from the Bunkyu era (1868-1912), and painted historical paintings under the names of Sesso, Shigorido, and Sanjyuen. After the Meiji Restoration, he took the family name Koiso-mae and established his own family.
