Maeda Tekison 前田萩邨

前田萩邨 Maeda Tekison (1895-1947)
Associate professor at the Kyoto Municipal College of Fine Arts and a member of the Chencho-sha coterie. Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1895. His real name is Yasohachi. Studied at the Nishimura Goun painting school. His work continued to be exhibited at the Teiten after the 2nd exhibition, and his ‘Tide’ at the 12th exhibition in 1931 was awarded a special prize, and in 1934 it was recommended by the Teiten. After the New Bunten Exhibition, he continued his activities as an unexamined artist and served as the general manager of Chentori-sha, an organisation of pupils of Nishimura Goun. He also devoted himself to education as a teacher at the Kyoto Municipal Art School and assistant professor at the Kyoto Municipal College of Painting.
