Masuda Roko 益田蘆湖

益田蘆湖 Masuda Roko (active 1912-1935) 
He was a Japanese painter associated with the Osaka school of painting. A pupil of Nakagawa Rogetsu, he inherited the traditions of Japanese ink painting while developing his own refined style. He is best known for his elegant hanging scrolls depicting landscapes, birds and flowers, animals, and auspicious subjects. His works are appreciated for their delicate brushwork and classical Japanese aesthetic.
