Miura Sekisai 三浦石斎

三浦石斎 Miura Sekisai (b1849)
Born in April of Kaei 2. Son of a stonemason in the Owari domain. Studied under Wakabayashi Sobun, Sumi Shungaku, and Okumura Sekiran. After quitting the family business, he made his living as a painter. Mainly focused on design patterns applied to practical business. He excelled at seal-engraving and wrote inscriptions well. Became a teacher at the Nagoya Military Childhood School, the Soto Sect's Third Middle School, and the Nippon Toki Gakko (Japanese Pottery School). Later, he resigned his position and opened the Furodo School of Painting, where he trained his students.
