Nakashima Baigaku 中島梅岳

中島梅岳 Nakashima Baigaku (1846-1931)
Born Tajima Province (Hyogo Prefecture). Japanese painter. Third son of a farming family. He loved painting from an early age and studied the painting style of the Maruyama School from the first year of Keio. In the Meiji era (1868-1912), he travelled to Kyushu and the eastern capitals of Japan, where he made contacts with many painters and calligraphers, and studied painting while touring the country.
