宋紫石 So Shiseki (1715-1786)
A painter of the mid-Edo period. He studied painting techniques in Nagasaki under Kumashiro Yuhi and the painter Son Shigan, later adopting the name Son Shiseki upon returning to Edo. He disseminated the painting style of Chin Nanpin throughout Edo, exerting a significant influence on the art world of the time. He excelled in landscapes and floral subjects.
