Teisai Hokuba 蹄斎北馬

蹄斎北馬 Teisai Hokuba (1770-1844)
Ukiyoe artist of the late Edo period. Born in Edo. A student of Katsushika Hokusai. He was the first of Hokusai's disciples and is considered a twin of Ukiyoe with Uoya Hokkei. He often painted pictures of beautiful women and illustrated books of kyoka and yomihon.
