Uchiyama Shuho 内山秀圃
内山秀圃 Uchiyama Shuho (1876-1963)
Born in Yokohama in 1876. Studied under Naito Tekiho and Nakajima Kyosai. Joined the Japan Painting Association. He was selected for various art exhibitions in Tokyo, Yokohama, and other cities, and often received honorable mentions. Traveled around the country and studied hard to sketch real scenes. From his youth, he enjoyed Noh plays and tried to sketch Noh plays by watching Noh performances at various schools. In 1926, he moved to Marutamachi, Kyoto, and became active as a Noh painter.
