Uragami shunkin 浦上春琴
浦上春琴 Uragami shunkin (1779-1846)
Literary painter of the late Edo period. Born in Bizen (Okayama Prefecture) as the eldest son of Uragami Gyokudo. He traveled to Nagasaki and Kyoto, where he interacted with Rai Sanyo and Tanomura Chikuden. Unlike his father, he was known for his exquisite style of painting. He was specializing in flower-and-bird and landscape paintings. His style was clear and elegant. At the time, his works were more popular than those of his father Gyokudo.
