山口玲熙 Yamaguchi Reiki (1894-1979)
A Japanese painter from Kyoto. His real name is Matsunosuke. His younger brother is the Japanese painter Yamaguchi Kayo. Studied under Kikuchi Hobun and Kikuchi Keigetsu. He was good at painting flowers and birds, and also wrote haiku.

The balance between the rising arc of the autumn moon and the gentle diagonals of silver grass and bush clovers gives the composition a poised, seasonal harmony that reflects the restrained elegance characteristic of Yamaguchi Reiki’s flower‑and‑bird painting; Reiki (1894–1979), born in Kyoto and trained under Kikuchi Hobun and Kikuchi Keigetsu, became known for works that combine lyrical natural motifs with the sensitivity of a haiku poet, and this scroll bears the signature and seal ‘Reiki,’ while the piece is accompanied by its original box (Tomobako), allowing the quiet equilibrium of moonlight and autumn plants to settle into a calm, enduring presence.
