岸岱 Gantai (1782-1865)
The eldest son of 岸駒 Ganku (1756-1749). Learned from his father and became the second generation of the Kishi School. He participated in the creation of wall paintings for the construction of the Imperial Palace. Specialized in paintings of birds and animals, especially tigers. After the deaths of Ganku and 呉春 Goshun (1752-1811), he became the second generation of the Kishi School and built up a large influence in the Kyoto art world, partly due to his longevity.
