Aoki Seiko 青木栖古

青木栖古 Aoki Seiko (1880-?)
Born in Aichi Prefecture. Active during the Meiji and Taisho periods. He worked in the tradition of the Shijō school, a style of Japanese painting celebrated for its refined naturalism and expressive brushwork. He specialized in animal paintings, particularly tigers, as well as bird-and-flower (kachō-ga) subjects. His works demonstrate careful observation of nature and the elegant, realistic style characteristic of the Shijō school.
