Hashimoto Kansetsu 橋本関雪

橋本関雪 Hashimoto Kansetsu (1883-1945)
He was a Japanese-style painter who was highly active from the Meiji through the Shōwa periods, primarily within the Kyoto art scene of the Taishō era. He gained fame as a leading figure in "New Nanga" (a style that incorporated modern sensibilities into traditional Chinese Nanga, or Southern School painting), and in his later years, he was also highly acclaimed for his outstanding "animal paintings."
