Hiraoka jokai 平岡定海
平岡定海 Hiraoka jokai (1923-2011)
Hiraoka Jokai was a monk of the Kegon sect in Japan and a historian specializing in the history of Japanese Buddhism and temples. He served as the 213th Bettei (the highest-ranking official, equivalent to the chief priest) of Tōdai-ji and as the Head of the Kegon sect. He is also known as an accomplished calligrapher.
