Kano Naonobu 狩野尚信
狩野尚信 Kano Naonobu (1607-1650)
He was born in Kyoto as the second son of Kano Takanobu. His elder brother was Kano Tanyu, and his younger brother was Kano Yasunobu. He lost his father at the age of twelve and was raised by Kano Koui. He later moved to Edo, where he became a court painter and subsequently a court painter to the shogun. He produced numerous screen and wall paintings, excelled in landscape painting, and left behind works of great artistic charm.
