Takeda Shingen (1521–1573) was one of the most powerful daimyo (feudal lords) of Japan’s Sengoku period. Renowned for his military brilliance and strategic leadership, he ruled Kai Province and expanded his influence across central Japan. He is especially remembered for his rivalry with Uesugi Kenshin and his famous motto, “Fūrinkazan” (Wind, Forest, Fire, and Mountain).
