Japanese painter of the Taisho and Showa periods. Born in Okayama Prefecture. Studied under Takeuchi Seiho. Specialized in flower-and-bird and animal paintings. He was active in exhibitions such as Bunten and Teiten.

This charming hanging scroll by Higashihara Hosen (1886–1972) captures a delicate seasonal moment with a lively sparrow perched among green plums, rendered in soft colors and elegant brushwork. The composition balances natural vitality with refined restraint, characteristic of Hosen’s flower-and-bird paintings.
