Artist details:
1900~1988. Yamada Mumon was a Rinzai school roshi, calligrapher, and former abbot of Shofuku-ji in Kobe, Japan. Mumon was also the former head of the Myoshin-ji branch of the Rinzai school of Japan. His most prominent student (and Dharma heir) is Harada Shodo of Sogen-ji, an influential master in both Japan and the United States.

Neither arising nor ceasing. All things in the world do not begin or end on their own accord.

円相 Enso
In Zen, it expresses 和 wa / harmony or peace. It has no beginning and end, you may judge as you like, it can be sometimes seen as moon. Enso is a circle that is hand drawn in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create.
