昨夜一聲雁 Sakuya Issei no Kari
昨夜 Sakuya means Last night, 一聲雁 Issei no Kari means single cry of a wild goose. It means that after long training, one day a practitioner suddenly attains enlightenment. When morning comes, that is, when one attains enlightenment, all the confusion of the past disappears, and one feels refreshed and clear-headed.
立花大亀 Tachibana Daiki (1899-2005)
Daitoku-ji monk, Tea master, Calligrapher. He was well versed in the tea ceremony and was also known as a tea master and calligrapher. He also interacted with many political and business leaders, including former Prime Minister Ikeda Hayato, former Prime Minister Fukuda Takeo, and Matsushita Konosuke. He was called “the advisor to the political world” because he gave advice based on the teachings of Zen Buddhism.
