上島鳳山 Ueshima Hozan (1875-1920)
Born in Okayama. Studied under Kimura Kanzan, Nishiyama Kanei and Watanabe Shoeki. He often painted figures, flowers, birds and animals of the Maruyama school. Together with Kitano Tsunetomi, Okamoto Taiko and others, he was one of the leading painters of the Osaka art world.
