Bold yet spacious, this hanging scroll by Maeda Shōdō (b.1939) presents the single character 夢—Yume, “Dream”—rendered with a clarity that feels both immediate and quietly expansive. A former chief priest of Zuibuinin of the Daitoku‑ji school, Shōdō brings to the brush a disciplined calm, allowing the character to unfold in a single, confident gesture that carries the depth of Zen practice.
