In Zen, it expresses 和 wa (harmony or peace). It has no beginning and end, you may judge as you like, it can be sometimes seen as moon. Enso is a circle that is hand drawn in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create.

This Zen hanging scroll features an Enso, the hand-drawn circle symbolizing harmony, completeness, and a state of mind in which thought and action are unified. Executed in a single, uninhibited brushstroke, the circle has neither beginning nor end and may be freely interpreted, often likened to the moon or the fullness of the present moment. The inscription “Myoshin” (妙心) refers to the true or awakened mind in Zen Buddhism, unclouded by attachment or dualistic thinking. The work is by Kasumi Bunshō (1905–1998), who served as the 29th chief priest of Myōshin-ji, and is signed “Kancho Jishunken, 82 years old” (管長 自春見 八十二才) with seals “Bunshō” (文勝) and “Mukaku” (無覚). The scroll is fitted with decorative jikusaki (scroll end knobs) and is accompanied by a storage box, confirming proper preservation and provenance.
