高森碎巌 Takamori Saigan (1847-1917)
A Japanese-style painter born in Chiba Prefecture. He was commonly known as Yūzō and used the art names Jichisai, Kikuryō, and Dakō. He traveled to Edo, where he studied Confucianism under Hattori Randai and calligraphy under Hagiwara Shūgan; he also studied Nanga-style painting under Yamamoto Kinkoku. He excelled at painting landscapes, flowers, and birds.
