山本永暉 Yamamoto Eiki (1865-1952) 
He was a Japanese painter active from the late Meiji to early Shōwa periods, known for his refined landscapes and flower‑and‑bird paintings. Born in Osaka, he first studied under Nishiyama Kan’ei of the Shijō school, gaining a foundation in naturalistic brushwork and lyrical expression. He later moved to Tokyo, became the adopted son of Yamamoto Shigeyoshi, and continued his training within the Kano‑school lineage while also maintaining close ties with Hashimoto Gahō. Eiki traveled widely throughout Japan, producing works that captured regional scenery with clarity, atmosphere, and poetic sensitivity. Blending the softness of the Shijō tradition with the structural discipline of the Kano school, he developed a distinctive style that remained consistent throughout his long career. He passed away in 1952 at the age of 87.
