Furukawa Shuho 古川秋蓬

古川秋蓬 Furukawa Shuho (1851-1926) 
Born in Kamikawachi, Kawachi, Kamo County, in 4 Kaei. Second son of village headman Furukawa Shisaburo. He loved painting from an early age, and in 1876, overcoming the opposition of his family, he went to Tokyo to study under Yasuda Rozan with the support of the Taketsuru family, a sake brewer in Takehara, his elder brother's wife's home town. He later played and studied in the Chiba region and returned to Hiroshima in 1893. He exhibited at the first Hiroshima Prefectural Art Exhibition in 1916 and was a leading figure in the Hiroshima art world, along with Satomi Unrei and Wada Kagaku.
