Habara Chitatsu 羽原智達

羽原智達 Habara Chitatsu (b1925)
A Western-style painter from Hiroshima Prefecture. He studied under Nanbata Tatsuoki. His works depict the mixed woodlands of Musashino, still lifes and landscapes. A key feature of his style is a distinctive texture created by layering opaque oil paints over a bright undercoat—such as red—and deliberately allowing the undercoat to show through the outlines of the objects.
