Sasaki Senkei 佐々木泉景
佐々木泉景 Sasaki Senkei (1773-1848)
Painter of the Kano school active from the late Edo period to the end of the Edo period. He liked painting from an early age and studied painting under the Kano school painters Ishida Yutei-石田幽汀 and Yutei-友汀 in Kyoto, before moving to Tokyo in 1790 to study under the father and son of Tsuruzawa Tansaku-鶴沢探索 and Tansen-探泉. Many members of the Senkei family became painters, including his eldest son Sasaki Sengen, his second son Sasaki Senryu, Sengen's eldest son Sasaki Senzan, Senzan's eldest son Sasaki Senkei and Senryu's eldest son Sasaki Senseki. There were also many pupils, including Hayakawa Senryu, Matsunami Sen'ei, Tanabe Sozan and Nakahama Kakutei.
