Utagawa Yoshitsuru 歌川芳鶴

歌川芳鶴 Utagawa Yoshitsuru (active 1830-1860)
A pupil of Utagawa Kuniyoshi; his common name was Chōjirō and his art name was Isseisai. Active around the end of the Edo period, he excelled at warrior prints but also produced a wide range of works, including actor prints, images of beautiful women, tattoo designs, and illustrations for "gōkan" (serialized illustrated fiction) and picture books. He also created works on behalf of his master, Kuniyoshi.
