According to an inscription by the previous owner on the wooden storage box, the set was purchased in December of Taisho 6 (1917)
九谷焼 Kutani ware
Kutani ware is colored porcelain produced in the cities of Kanazawa, Komatsu, Kaga, and Nomi in southern Ishikawa Prefecture. Kutani ware is characterized by its vividly colored overglaze enamels called Gosai-te (commonly known as "Kutani Gosai").
