A warm, good‑humored energy runs through this scroll by Kuradate Keiseki, where the Seven Lucky Gods make their way along a coastal path beneath the sweeping branches of an old pine. Each figure is rendered with a light touch—distinct in personality yet harmoniously arranged—giving the scene a gentle narrative rhythm. The shoreline curves softly behind them, and the pine’s twisting trunk adds a sense of age and quiet resilience, grounding the composition. Keiseki, active in the mid‑20th century and signing here as “Keiseki sanjin” (桂石山人), brings a relaxed confidence to the brushwork, blending tradition with an approachable charm. The scroll is dated spring, January 1955 (Shōwa 30, 乙未春一月) and bears seals including “Jijitsushiwa” (字日子和) and “Keiseki” (桂石).
