Horiuchi Sōshin is a leading figure and renowned tea master in the contemporary tea ceremony world, having made significant contributions to the traditional Japanese art of tea, particularly within the Omotesenke school. He is the 12th-generation head of the Horiuchi family—a prominent tea-master family within the Omotesenke school—and is also known as "Horiuchi Sōkan, 12th Generation," with the monastic name "Kenchū-sai."
