This hanging scroll by Kozan (耕山), signed “Kozan sha” (耕山写) and sealed with both “Kozan” (耕山) and “Banri Sōshu” (萬里莊主), presents a charming summer motif featuring a slice of watermelon with a perched grasshopper. The composition is minimalist yet expressive, highlighting the seasonal theme through delicate brushwork and subtle coloration.
